WHAT ARE THE CURRENT NEEDS?

Volunteer Opportunities with Toy Lift and Books Lift Kids
in 2008
Wed / Thurs, Dec 3rd & 4th
Friday, Dec 5th (TOY LIFT): Collection Tent - Bucket Coordinator - Maintain schedule of entertainment for bucket truck Site Runners - Run errands and message on and off site (must have a car) Photographer - Take pictures of entertainment and scenes around the event (use own camera and supply us with a disc of photos) Santa - 2 shifts: 9:30 – 3:00 & 3:30 – 8:00; Hang out in Santa’s house and take pictures with kids Elves - Assist at Santa’s house & take pictures of Santa & kids Distribution Center Sorters – Unload toys sent from the site and sort out into categories at the warehouse Book Levelers – Count, level, & sort books for the book area Wish List Searchers – Search for specific items that are tagged for specific children Wish List Sorters – Organize the items tagged for specific children into school groups Food runners – Pick up food donations and bring them back to the warehouse Saturday/Sunday, Dec 6th & 7th: Distribution Center Checkers – Verify boxes for each family and mark as complete or not Packers – Build, Seal, & label boxes for each family Shipping – Load trucks with boxes to be shipped out to the schools Book Maintenance – Assist in locating books for families and fill categories as they run low Wish List – Retrieve wish list items for each child to be added to boxes Shoppers –
Fill boxes for families (availability dependent on volunteers being sent by schools)

General Guidelines for younger volunteers:
Friday at Distribution Center – children 8 and up may volunteer. They should be supervised 4 per adult. Saturday at DC – No children under high school age AND they may not fill boxes for a school that is in the same feeder pattern as either the school they attend or the neighborhood they live in. |
